Should ‘Catching Fire’ or ‘Mockingjay’ be split into two films?
So, I know there are rumors spinning that ‘Mockingjay,’ the third book to ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy, will be split into two films. BUT has anyone thought that splitting ‘Catching Fire’ would be a better idea, if the producers and directors have any plans to split one of the books?
If I recall correctly, there are three parts in ‘Catching Fire.’ Part One, I believe, ends with Katniss realizing she’s going back into the Games. Part Two ends right as Katniss, Peeta and all of the other past tributes are about to enter the arena. Part Three begins and ends with the Quarter Quell—the 75th Annual Hunger Games.
With that said, couldn’t you see a split ‘Catching Fire’ work perfectly?? Part One would end right as Katniss, Peeta and the others enter the arena. Part Two would pick up there and take us through every single detail that happens in the arena.
‘Catching Fire’ is the most detail-oriented of the trilogy, and it’s necessary the audience really understands everything that is depicted in the book. Everything that leads up to the reaping and everything that happens at the Training Center is important. Equally, everything that happens in the arena is important.
I feel that if ‘Mockingjay’ was split into two films, the movies would be either unnecessarily elongated or extremely short, and a multitude of additions would need to be added. Everything in ‘Mockingjay’ is already pretty condensed, and it’s pretty rushed towards the end anyway.
Personally, I think splitting ‘Catching Fire’ would be more the more logical and beneficial route, in regards to justifying the book and satisfying both movie-based and book-based fans
So, what do y’all think?

  1. katfuckingniss answered: I like your idea. Catching Fire should be split up.
  2. michelle-diane answered: I agree. I heard rumors that they were splitting both into two movies, but splitting Catching Fire would make the most sense.
